Important Dates

Following are a few important dates in the Duluth chronicle:

1821
  Evan Howell first settles area
1833
  Area christened Howell's Cross Roads.
1876
  Town receives charter, the fourth oldest chartered city in Gwinnett County.
1906
  City of Duluth officially incorporates.
1922
  Duluth elects Georgia‚Äôs first woman mayor, Mrs. Alice Strickland.
1943
  Duluth built the first hospital in Gwinnett County
